why not wait

 + + +

For about a year now ive liked this guy. not just any guy. a tall, brown eyed, soccer player guy. i thought he was perfect. & pretty much the only guy at Lehi High to like because all the cute ones are no where to be found. I thought there were no other guys for me but him. Why i thought that? No clue.

he's adorable. buuuuuut...

Problem #1: He doesn't like me back.. im pretty sure. He just flirts. a lot.

Problem #2: My friends and sister don't like him. at all.

Problem #3: I can't seem to get over him.

I realized, however, that he's not the only cute boy in the world. I mean, i was driving on the freeway by Utah State University and holy hannah, I saw THE most attractive young man! ever. Pretty sure hes like a sophomore in college, but that's not THAT much older than me, right?

Most girls think they need a boyfriend in high school or they will be forever alone. but i realized only just a couple weeks ago that my future husband is probably serving a mission somewhere or going to college just waiting for his dream girl to show up. *cough cough* (thats me) (;

But really. Why not wait for someone that will treat you right, do anything to be your everything, and love you with all their heart? I'd much rather have this than some high school romance that most likely won't last after graduation.

So here I am, waiting for my dream man. & he's waiting for me too, somewhere. I can hardly wait to meet him. but patience is a virtue, right?

{ to my future husband: I'm praying for you. I'll wait for you. & I love you. }

s e n i o r

+ + +

I can't believe i'm already a senior. I mean, I feel like it was just the other day when i was hesitantly walking through those double glass doors of Lehi High School, wondering how in the world i was going to survive. I always thought the seniors looked so old.. haha and now i'm one of them! (except i don't think i look much older than i did when i was a sophomore).

I've grown a lot since then.

spiritually, physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Spiritually: i'm more confident in myself and who i really am. I know for a fact that i'm a daughter of my heavenly father and no one can take that knowledge away from me. my testimony has grown so much and i'm proud to say i've helped a lot of people i care about because of it. Its hard to believe but i could be out on a mission somewhere in the world in a little less than 2 years. crazy. I've met a ton of people that have changed me for the better too. People that have shared their testimony with me when i needed it most. & i think its safe to say Heavenly Father does indeed answer our prayers through others.

Physically:  I actually know how to dress myself. I mean, i've always known how... but {YIKES} ....glad i know how to dress myself BETTER. (: & i do look a little older, i'll admit it. thats about it though...sad to say.

Emotionally: I actually think i'm more emotional (is that even possible?!) than i was when i was a freshmen. I think its because... i actually have no idea but you know...cool. I feel stronger, i'm able to be confident in myself instead of shy. don't get me wrong. i'm still like way shy if you don't know me. but when i feel comfortable around you...run. you think i'm joking, dont you? im serious. Okay, and i really do cry during every love song and movie because i do want love. who doesn't. but i'm fine with being single... forever.

Mentally: so i may not be like, GENIUS, but i'm definitely a lot smarter than i used to be.

Senior year should be good though. I only have one class, but you better believe i will be to EVERY SINGLE sports game and school event that i can! its my senior year, its gotta be fun!

Senior Goals:

  • First kiss. its a must.
  • Go to every dance. - - - could be challenging
  • Good grade
  • Dont worry about what people think about me.
  • Make some new friends
  • Live every moment to it's fullest
  • SMILE everyday
  • Be the best example i can.

Lets do this.
Senior year, im ready for ya.

tears from heaven.

+ + +

Anyone who thinks sunshine is pure happiness has never danced in the rain.

don't you think its amazing.
Rain that is. Amazing.

Rain is my favorite thing. Ever. No, there is nothing that makes me happier.

After it rains, the world just seems so... clean. You know?

That's how I feel humans are too. They have to cry. To release that tension. That stress we've been holding onto for so long. Throughout the week, month, and year... it soon just becomes too much to hold in. So, we let it out...  through tears.

After, we feel better. Clean. Ready to accomplish anything.
At least, thats how I feel. haha

But rain. Dont you love it?

Dancing in it................. <3 p="">

Thunderstorms are also quite enjoyable. Sometimes, I sit on my porch with a blanket and some hot cocoa and just watch the storm. Take your journal out there. Write. Rain is so inspiring.

Watch. Write. Play. Dream.

But most importantly... Dance.

life updates.

+ + +
School:

- I've made some pretty great friends.
- I know how to give haircuts, perms, and color. ALREADY.
- My instructors are crazy.
- I hate. HATE. Carrying in my kit everyday. I think I have some pretty good arm muscles from it though.

Home:

- My room's clean.
- My family cracks me up.
- Although i'm sick of our family meetings, they still help throughout the week.
- These flies that just fly in circles. yeah. they gotta go.

Love:

- Still single.
- I absolutely hate the Bro Code. {explain later}
- The Bachelorette isn't satisfying my thirst for love.
- The cuddle weather isn't helping either.

Church:

- It never changes. STILL LOVE IT. the principles are still true.

The Fourth of July is my absolute favorite holiday. Celebrating the birth of our country. So of course I celebrated the way America does best. EATING.
{pie.salad.cheeseburgers.cookies.cupcakes.cornonthecob.homemaderootbeer.chips.cottoncandy.lemonade.crepes.doughnuts.watermelon.chocolatecoveredstrawberries.}

OH. and I listened to these old guys pretend to be The Beatles at an outdoor concert. not gonna lie. they were pretty dang good. at least, i enjoyed myself. they had the whole shabang. the costumes. the names. the songs. the instruments. the accents.

and although I had to share a bed with my sister the whole weekend, i actually didn't mind. you see. she told me some pretty juicy secrets. but of course, i could never tell you.

well, i could. she never checks my blog. but i made a promise not to tell, so i wont.
SORRY.

thats pretty much it folks.

I went to a little dance called PROM.

+ + +
Once Upon a Time... I got asked to prom by one of my best friends.

 + + +

I curled my hair,

 + + +

Found the dress I'm madly in love with,

 + + +

And went with my best friend.

And we danced the night away (:

A Massive thank you to Kaden. I couldn't ask for a better date. Ever.

If the Book of Mormon were a Cell Phone

 + + +

What if you treated your Book of Mormon like your

Cell Phone?

What if we carried it around in our purse or pocket?
What if we turned back to get it if we forgot it?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we used it to receive messages?
What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it as a gift?
What if we used it as we traveled?
What if we used it in case of an emergency?

Oh.... A few more things

Unlike a cell phone, one plan fits all, we have unlimited usage, there are no roaming charges, we always have reception, the battery is always full, and we don't ever have to worry about being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill.

Why Not?

 + + +

You know, sometimes I get questions about why I act the way I act. Why I smile whenever I can. And why I'm friends with people some think are a little odd. My answer:

Why Not?

Why not love everyone? Why not try to make everyday worth living and being as happy as possible? Why not live what you preach and believe? Why not try to see others the way Christ sees them?  Why do we have to do what everyone tells us to do?

Along the same line....

I like this guy. No. Will not give a name. But I like him, right? I get really nervous when he's around. Like, reallly really nervous. And I never know what to say. My mind just goes blank. My friend gave me some great advice though.
"Mikel, if you like him, tell him. He's not a mind reader. He might be just as nervous to talk to you as you are to talk to him."

Maybe I should just tell him. Maybe he likes me too. Maybe.

I mean, Why not, right?

haha. Who am i kidding. I could never tell him. I'm too shy. It was a good thought though.

1/01/2013

A new year. A new beginning.

 + + +

It's that time of year again. Time to make those goals, and maybe this time keep them..?
I hope that you choose something that you truly want to improve upon. Something that would make you proud if you complete it. Don't worry if you think others will think that it might be a dumb goal or not realistic. If it's important to you, it's important to Him, and he will help you accomplish anything.

 + + +

As for me Thomas S. Monson has taught me that my goals should be...
  1. Study Diligently
  2. Pray earnestly
  3. Serve willingly
Doing these three things will lead me to true happiness and joy.
I hope y'all will do the same(:

"Wonderful, glorious things are in store for you, if only you will believe, obey, and endure."
-Thomas S. Monson

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
